- We have three Dell Computers that have the 3C509 Ethernet board in it. I
- have succesfully install PC-NFS 5.0 on all of them and the work fine.
-
- However, I also installed Mosaic, NCSA Telnet, Gopher, Infonet, Eudora,
- FTP, Trumpet on one of them. It stated that I need a winsock and driver
- for the board. Well I got the shareware stuff and installed it and it
- worked fine, but I had to setup a menu to allow either NFS or the other
- programs to work.
-
- I'm not really up on all this winsock and driver stuff. I was told that
- PC-NFS winsock (?) could run everything, so I woudn't have to setup various
- Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files. So far no luck. Can this be done?
-
- Please someone expalain this stuff. I like to know the details and not
- just how to set it up.
-
- Thanks in advance. Michael
-
- P.S. If you could, please reply via E-mail.

- The latest version (I think it is alpha 2.1 A)...I checked last night and
- I know I have the very latest....crashes regularly in the midst of

-
- I hope they come up with a more stable version soon.

- Subject: MS TCP-32 VxD Beta and ODI???
-
-
- Can anyone help me or shed light on my problem?
-
- I am running WfW3.11 attaching to a Novell server and at the same time
- communicating with a set of WfW3.11 PCs. I have this system working,
- although i have had much grief in attaining it. But on loading the
- MS TCP-32 and configuring it I get no joy from tcp at all.
-
- Details..Details..
-
- Using netware ODI drivers:
-
- initial setup is at dos ( ie just a PC attaching to novel )
-
- lsl
- ne2000 : ethernet driver
- ipxodi
- netx
-
- after WFW3.11 with NetBEUI ( using ODI mode , and without IPX/SPX )
-
- net start
- lsl
- ne2000
- ipxodi
- odihlp : inserted by wfw3.11
- netx
-
- Hit small snag at this point in that the Novel server using Media_type Ethernet_II
- but default setting for use in wfw is Ethernet_802.3. After much probs eventually
- found that i have to manually edit "net.cfg" and "protocol.ini" :
-
- net.cfg protocol.ini
- Link Driver NE2000 Link Driver N2000]
- Frame Ethernet_II Frame Ethernet_II : ie server
- Frame Ethernet_802.3 Frame Ethernet_802.3 : wfw network
-
- This provides me with a novel server to login on, with drives mounted in dos, then
- into windows (able to access drives) and communicate via wfw networking.
-
- So can MS-tcp sit over ODI ?????
- Anyone doing similar setups and having success????
-
- B.
